For schools
CANtutor AI and Google Classroom
How CANtutor AI works alongside Google Classroom — and what to do if your school has not approved it yet.
Seeing “Error 400: access_not_configured”?
That message is not a fault in CANtutor AI, and it is not something you did wrong. Google Workspace for Education blocks third-party apps by default for student accounts until a school administrator approves them. Only your school’s Workspace administrator can change it.
Send this page to your school’s IT department. Everything they need to review and approve us is one email away, and the section below tells them how to get it.
What CANtutor AI does for your students
CANtutor AI is an AI-assisted learning tool, available for students from elementary school all the way through post-secondary. Students choose their grade and subject and work through explanations, practice and feedback pitched at that level. It is built to work through a problem with a student and check their understanding, rather than to hand over finished work.
It complements Google Classroom rather than replacing it. Classroom remains where your teachers assign and collect work; CANtutor AI is where a student goes when they are stuck on it at nine in the evening.
Privacy and student data
- We do not sell personal information, and we never will.
- There is no advertising in the product, and no ad profiling of students.
- Information received through a school is used to provide the service to that school and its students, and for nothing else.
- We request only the permissions needed for the features a user turns on, and access can be revoked at any time.
- We handle personal information in accordance with Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA.
Our use of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. The full detail is in our Privacy Policy.
For Workspace administrators
If you are the administrator who can approve CANtutor AI for your domain, email us and we will send you an approval pack directly. It contains everything your review needs: the application identifier to allow, the exact permissions we request and why each one is needed, what happens to the data we receive, and the steps to complete the approval in your console.
We send that information privately rather than publishing it, because a public description of an integration surface is useful to more people than the administrators it is written for. We aim to respond within one business day.
Questions before you approve
We are happy to answer a board’s privacy or security review directly, including a completed vendor questionnaire. Send it to info@cantutor.ca.
Our published commitments are in our Privacy Policy, Terms of Use and accessibility statement.
