SCH3U Grade 11 Chemistry, worked through with a live AI tutor
SCH3U is where chemistry becomes quantitative. The mole arrives in the third unit and does not leave; every stoichiometry, solution and gas problem afterwards is a mole conversion with a different unit on each end. Students who see that pattern find the second half of the course collapses into one method; the tutor's job is mostly to make that pattern visible on your own problem set.

Where students get stuck
Stoichiometry as a mole map
Every problem follows one route: given quantity to moles, moles to moles by the equation's ratio, moles to the requested quantity. Grams use molar mass, litres of gas use the molar volume or the ideal gas law, litres of solution use concentration. Draw the three-step route before touching a number and the problem tells you which conversions it needs.
Limiting reagent
Convert both reactants to moles, divide each by its coefficient, and the smaller result is the limiting reagent. Comparing grams or even raw moles gives the wrong answer whenever the coefficients differ, which is most of the time. Then do the rest of the calculation from the limiting reagent only.
Empirical versus molecular formula
The empirical formula is the simplest whole-number ratio, found by converting each element's percentage to moles and dividing by the smallest. The molecular formula is that ratio times a whole number found by dividing the molar mass by the empirical formula's mass. Two formulas, two questions; check which one is asked.
Gas law problems: which law
If moles and one variable are fixed, use the combined gas law on the other two. If the question gives a mass or moles of gas, it is the ideal gas law. Temperature must be in kelvin in every case, and forgetting that conversion is the single most common error in the unit.
